There are few things that make you feel more confident than a dazzling white smile. If you’ve just been to the dentist for a polish or you’ve had your teeth whitened, it’s natural to want to keep your smile sparkling for as long as possible. Here are 3 steps you can take to keep your pearly whites looking pristine:
- Set a timer when you brush: brushing is the best way to keep dental disease at bay and it can also give your smile a lovely, healthy glow. Many of us don’t devote enough time to brushing. If you’re worried that you don’t clean your teeth for long enough, set a timer when you brush or buy an electric toothbrush with a built-in timer. It’s important to cover every part of the mouth and to angle your brush head so that you can clean along the gum line.
- Use a straw: unfortunately, lots of our favourite drinks contain staining agents, which discolour the teeth. If you’re partial to tea, coffee, dark juices, cola or wine, it’s a really good idea to use a straw. If you sip through a straw, the liquid won’t come into direct contact with your enamel and this will lower the risk of staining.
- See your dentist on a regular basis: brushing is really good for your teeth, but you can’t achieve a clean like you get at the dentist no matter how fantastic your skills. Make sure you see your dentist every 6-12 months for a check-up and a polish.
