Cosmetic dentistry includes both dental and cosmetic treatments, with the overall aim being to improve dental function, health and smile aesthetics. A holistic approach to aesthetics and overall health is at the heart of cosmetic dentistry.

People with dental conditions can sometimes feel insecure, and this can affect their interactions with others and life opportunities. Cosmetic dentists provide individuals with general and cosmetic dentistry treatment options that build self-image and esteem, leading to positive relationships with others and an improved quality of life.

The difference between cosmetic dentistry and traditional dentistry is treatment focus. Traditional dentistry places emphasis on improving oral hygiene,

by the prevention and treatment of tooth decay and oral diseases, such as Periodontal Disease, Oral Cancer and Caries. These general dentistry treatments are required to maintain good oral health and prevent overall illness.

Cosmetic dentistry is focused on improving the aesthetics of patients’ smiles. People choose cosmetic dentistry for smile enhancement and restorative advantages, not necessarily to prevent tooth decay and oral disease. However, cosmetic dentistry treatments can simultaneously provide oral health benefits, such as composite white dental fillings which can be used to replace mercury fillings or silver fillings that weaken tooth structure.

We strive to give patients the best quality in cosmetic dentistry care through affordable payment options.

Tooth Whitening

White teeth give a good, clean feel and youthful appearance that lasts. There are different ways to whiten teeth, which may involve replacing fillings or crowns to match the whiter tooth shade or using tooth whitening treatment.

Those interested in tooth whitening, either in-clinic or at home, can learn about the process from our friendly team.

White Fillings

Teeth damaged by decay or trauma may be restored with white fillings. White fillings fill teeth cavities and rebuild the tooth’s structure at the front and back of the teeth.
Our goal is to replace lost or worn fillings and restore damaged teeth, with composite white fillings used where possible to preserve existing tooth structure. Metal or silver amalgam fillings that may contain mercury are best replaced with tooth coloured white fillings for healthy smiles. Dr. Dwyer will discuss any concerns you have about your fillings and teeth at an initial appointment.

Crowns & Bridges

Crowns are artificial teeth restorations made of porcelain and/or palladium, which are used to replace missing or damaged teeth. When teeth become severely worn, decayed or have large cavities, crowns may be used to cover or cap part of the tooth. Crowns or caps restore the tooth to a natural look and function. Crowns are recommended in a number of cases to restore and strengthen tooth structure.

Dental bridges are an artificial tooth replacement option for missing teeth of one or more. They are fixed to the existing tooth structure on either side or one side of the tooth gap. Dental crowns can be placed on each side of the tooth gap to anchor the dental bridge in place. Bridge teeth restorations may be made of porcelain or a combination of porcelain and metal.
